Junior Years 0-3 | Foundation Learning

In the Juniors, aakonga build strong foundational skills in literacy (oral language, reading, and writing) and mathematics. Through rich, hands-on learning experiences, we nurture curiosity and questioning while supporting children to develop strong social connections, self-management, and positive learning habits.

To anchor our youngest learners in their local environment, our Year 2 and 3 classrooms are named after land birds:

Middle Years 4-6 | Consolidating & Expanding

Classroom Naming Theme: Water Birds (Manu Wai)

In the Middle Team aakonga apply their reading, writing, and mathematics knowledge across all curriculum areas. Learners grow in independence, learn to transfer skills into new contexts, and engage in broader co-curricular opportunities (such as epro8, Mathex, and interschool sports).

As our learners' horizons expand, our Middle Team classrooms take their names from water and wetland birds:

Senior Years 7-8 | Critical Thinking & Leadership

Classroom Naming Theme: Sealife (Ika me ngā Taniwha o te Moana)

As emerging adolescents, our senior aakonga develop as purposeful, curious, and critical thinkers. They build interdisciplinary knowledge to investigate real-world challenges, deepen their social conscience, and take up active leadership roles across the school in preparation for high school education and beyond.

Representing strength, depth, and navigating open waters, our senior learning spaces are named after sealife.

Specialist Classes

Ohurua is a dedicated creative space which incorporates Toi Tech (the Arts) and STREAM (Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.).

Mrs Jen Collis and Mrs Claudette Howard teach in Ohurua and release classroom teachers. This allows our aakonga to receive high quality, specialised teaching of the Arts.
